HiB – playtime! "end of drama. begin of game"/ states of the union: EURORA
The funeral- and marriage-ceremony of Heiner Müller’s Hamletmachine is turned into a performance in which Müller’s idea of a ‘theatre of resurrection’ comes to life using elements of the Mexican death-cult, danse macabre, electronic folk- and dance-music: “grieve turned into cheering, cheering into munching”. In a temporary collaborative laboratory Hamlet’s drama – inbetween melancholy & revolt in Berlin 1953 or 1956, 1989 and 2006 in Budapest – is transformed into a game in which the text is at stake: From the end of drama to a trilingual theatrical game-show which gambles with the text in order to come back into play.
The performance is a collective reading as well as a concert, a walk through the text and a ghost-ride through history: “The insurrection begins as a stroll.”
